For the year 2006 Hybrid vehicles made up just over 1.5% of the car market, with the Toyota Prius leading with 42.8% of the hybrid car market. In second place was the Toyota Highlander with 12.5% and the Honda Civic with 12.3%. Overall, Toyota/Lexus had more than 75% of all new hybrid car registrations.
